Allison's Story
by: Jon Lurie

A couple of weeks ago, I found a library treasure! As usual, I am on the hunt for any resource that I can find about homeschooling. Our local library just so happened to have a book about homeschooling, Allison's Story. This book is a juvenile book, but I  also enjoyed it! My kids really loved reading a book about a fellow homeschooler. The book tells the story of a little girl named, Allison and her family's homeschooling story. It is basically a walk through the day and life of a homeschooling family. It was written in the 1990s, so there are some pictures of computers that are rather old and the homeschooling statistics at the end are no longer correct (homeschooling as really grown since the '90s). What I really liked about it was the honesty of the book. She not only shows what she loves about homeschooling, she also shows that not every day is a great one! Allison even tells of how she responds to her rather critical cousins who feel that homeschooling is not a good choice! Allison's Story is filled with great pictures about the homeschooling life. This book is a must have for every homeschooling library! It is also a great way to share a look at homeschooling, for those who are curious or interested! Check to see if you can also find it at your library, or order it!

Allison shows how she begins her day!
Allison says that some days she doesn't want to do her work!
Allison shows off some of her projects!

That's our Book Look for July! Happy Reading!
